Best Use of a Snow Day

M and Minnie came for a visit this weekend and we had plans to go back to NYC to the Met. Unfortunately, it began to snow. M guided Chiara (car) down the Henry Hudson so we happily filled a few hours visiting with the modern art collection at the museum. The girls were also able to make friends with a few impressionistic painters. Afterwards, on a whim, we drove to Astoria where we enjoyed an impromtu visit with Dad and Donna Rae. I'm really amazed how a day with seemingly few possibilities turned into an action-packed day.

The Weather Report

Obviously, in my house, it's raining dogs. I've been dog sitting for my mother's two dogs for a few days and it's taken us all a bit of time to acclimate ourselves. The good news is that all the little creatures generate quite a bit of heat. The bad news is there aren't enough scented candles in my house to adjust the puppy scent.

Winter Wonderland???

With the windchill factor, it's supposed to be between -20 and -40 degrees today. Yes, I do live in New England, but I don't think there is anything that can adjust the human body to such an insult. This vase is in the collection of a place safe from weather, the Yale Gallery.

Brick

M and I went to NYC on Saturday. We spent a marathon of hours exploring the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Many years ago, it was my second home and it was an incredible pleasure sharing this experience with such good company. Naturally, there are pictures a-go-go from the day, but here a couple taken on a whim in one of the cafeterias. As M pointed out, after a while all of the art in the museum fills you up and spills over into everything else in your life.

A Dog's Life

This is Minnie. She loves me. Some days, I give her food when she wakes up very early in the morning. I love that she is such an optimist. I have never given her food from the table and I don't usually drop any crumbs. Still, she faithfully wedges her way into my dining zone just on the outside chance she'll get lucky. I admire her dedication and her dashing good looks, not to mention her insistence that she is a lap dog.

Life As Art

Unemployment is agreeing with me so far. M and I spent three kings day cruising around New Haven. Indian food, book stores, cutler's, caffeine and an art gallery, the boy is a wonderful companion. The last few weeks of work were so busy, I'm really appreciating this chance to catch up with family and friends, movies and knitting (not to mention Buffy...we're up to season 3).
Here a couple of pics from a great play day.

2004 changes everything?!

Okay, so I didn’t fall off the planet or go to Vegas for Britney’s wedding. We’ve all been in the house just a little too long (as you can see…). Today is my first post-vacation day of gainful unemployment. I think it begins with an oil change for Chiara and a trip to AAA for updated maps. Who says I don’t know how to live large?
